HAND THERAPY

Did you know that only 1.5% of practicing therapists

in the United States have obtained the distinction of

“Certified Hand Therapist”?

What does is mean to be a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT)?

A Certified Hand Therapist provides highly specialized treatment of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder.

Both Occupational and Physical Therapists can obtain the distinction of CHT which, until recently, required 5 years of direct hand therapy experience followed by passing a rigorous examination.

In addition to her 30 years status as a Certified Hand Therapist, Kathie completed a rigorous 6 week Hand Therapy Residency and has treated thousands of patients with conditions affecting the upper extremity. Kathie has treated patients with conditions ranging from sprains and strains to devastating mutilating injuries and amputations.

What conditions does Kathie treat?

  • arthritis

  • fractures

  • sprains and dislocations

  • tendinitis

  • nerve compressions (such as carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel and thoracic outlet)

  • neck/shoulder pain as related to posture/stress

Why should I see Kathie?

Because you deserve to understand what is “going on” with your upper extremity and ensure that you are doing EVERYTHING possible to minimize your pain and maximize motion, flexibility, strength and function!

My boundless enthusiasm for helping people regain function is “contagious” and makes therapy fun, in the comfort of your own home!

Since I pride myself on delivering services that make sense, I offer two options for hand evaluations.

OPTIONS for Hand Therapy Evaluations:

Standard

HAND THERAPY EVALUATION

Some conditions or injuries are quite straight-forward and can be addressed with an evaluation and home program with a Standard Hand Therapy Evaluation.

Comprehensive

HOME ACTIVITY EVALUATION

Many conditions, however, are stubborn to resolve because they are repeatedly aggravated by activities that we perform regularly. In these situations, I recommend a Comprehensive Home Activity Assessment.
